A quick (really quick) update

posted on July 26th, 2007 by Chris Betlejemski

Hello everyone! Last time I wrote, I promised to post some photos the same day. That was almost 3 months ago. "Sorry" seems a little weak, but that's all I've got at the moment.

I can barely even say it, but we lost Mom ("Bragging Nana") recently. I've been wanting to write something about her, but it's pretty hard to start. I think I'm going to sit on it for a while longer, if you don't mind.

...but how is Julia doing?

Julia is an amazing little creature. She's getting so big, so fast! She's already got 4 teeth, and she's not even 7 months yet!! She can sit on her own, play nicely with toys, and even stand up with a little balance assistance.

Monika recently started giver her "tastings" of "real" food... which is to say she's eating mush. It tastes terrible, but she likes the experience. The big news here is that she's eating with a spoon! The other big news is that Julia is drinking from a sippy-cup. It's so cute - she can actually pick it up and put it in her mouth.

Julia is starting to get a bit gabby, too. She laughs, blows raspberries, squeals, gets mad, and tries to have conversations. Her voice is quite sweet. I can't believe that just a few months ago, she was on a respirator, with the possibility of losing her voice permanently.

Anyway, now that I've started writing again (like, the past 5 minutes), I'm already feeling a bit better about things, and wanting to write more. I think you'll see more frequent updates.

Thanks for the patience. But more importantly, thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, good vibes, flowers, phone calls, e-mails, diapers, and squeaky toys.

Well, maybe not the squeaky toys.

Dad

ps. Almost forgot... Payton (from Sick Kids) is doing great after some more surgery. We haven't seen her in a while, but we're hoping to meet up with her and her parents sooner than later.
